4 SmartHome Routines to use in your Bedroom

Does Smart Home Technology belong in your bedroom? Smart Home routines can add a level of sophistication, and futuristic feel to your daily routine. The purpose of this article is to touch on 4 uses cases for Smart Home technology in your bedroom. 

1st – The disruptive alarm clock. With routines, you can set weekday alarms that can play a song, turn on lights, read the news, open the blinds, or read you a custom set message. Beware, this is typically an easy alarm to shut off. So if you’re one that’s fond of snoozing, these routines can be dangerous. This routine can also turn on additional lights throughout the house, such as a kitchen, dining room, or living room, wherever you go right after getting out of bed.

2nd – Good Night Routine. A good night routine can put your house to sleep. You can set up this routine on a schedule or initiated via a phrase such as: “Alexa, Good Night.” With this routine, you can shut off the bedroom lights, turn on a fan or white noise generator, turn off other household lights or plugged devices, and even lock the door.

3rd – Ready for bed routine – Supplemental or in addition to the above mentioned Good Night Routine, you can have a “pre-bedtime” routine that simply turns off lights throughout the house, locks doors, and then turns on a bedroom light as you get ready for bed. You could use a routine like this for kids as well to let them know 

4th – Set a particular ambiance. Now, SmartHomeGeek would have no idea of a real use case here, but if you need to “set the mood” here’s a few things you can do with Smart Home technology. This ambiance is likely initiated via voice command such as “Alexa, Set the mood” or “Alexa Time For (insert reason for ambience here).” This routine can dim the lights, turn off any unneeded lights in the house, play a particular song – perhaps some smooth jazz, or whatever the circumstance requires all with one simple command.
